Default HELP NEEDED!!! lost amiga fan

Dear all
I used to own an amiga 1200 many moons ago and enjoyed wasting my life playing premier manager, syndicate, brutal sport and all the other classics. Unfortunatly it was damaged when i moved house and was binned by my mother (damn her ) . Anyhow i have recently had the urge to yet again own an amiga 1200 and re-kindle my love for wasting my life in front of a monitor :-D . However this where my problem begins and where i need your help (so bare with me). The one i had was so simple to use, when swithced on it show a purple screen with the animation of a floppy disc entering a disc drive. This version would enable you to just put the game disc in and it would start to load itself straight away and off you went. I recently got hold of my uncles which doesn't do that? It goes to a different screen when turned on with icons where you have to click on things (install being one of them), also the hard drive (i think thats what it is) is on the outside hanging on by wires??? Which also died 2 days after me getting it . Now as you,ve guessed i'm not the most technically minded person when it comes to computers, so what i need to know is what type did i have and what (specifications) do i need to ask for when approching buyers :-?. I bet your glad thats over, but i hope someone can help cos i relly want my happy amiga days back. thanks

Your new 1200 has a hard disk and boots right to Workbench. Simply insert your game disk and turn on the machine.

If the machine is already powered on then simply insert your game disk and hit control-amiga-amiga to reboot.

Hope this helps.

If all you want is to play your games you can probably junk the hard disk and just keep booting the games from floppy.

Hello :-)

Put game disk in A1200.
Switch A1200 on.
The game will load.

If the A1200 is on:
Put disk in A1200.
Hold Ctrl Left-Amiga Right-Amiga. (see end)
When screen goes black let go of keys.
Game will load.

Left-Amiga is the key on the bottom row left of the Space Bar with an A on it. Right-Amiga is the other key on the bottom row with the A on it. Both look alike except one is shaded in and the other is an outline.
