Wilse, this is absolutely horrible. Imagine assassinating disease carrying dogs. Next thing you know, they will be assassinating animals that have mad cow disease.

"This is hard on these guys, especially killing the dogs. But these animals have been eating dead bodies. They can spread disease,"

I guess killing humans wasn't that much of a problem them though.

Who says terrorist are human!!

In this respect it is harder to kill an animal, since animals have more intelligence than terrorist.

.......and right-wing slobs sat on the sofa eating junk viewing the world through the comfort of their television.

What a shame the US doesn't have conscription to the army anymore. We would see just how tough you were then.

Infact why don't you all just volunteer, and join the Army right now? Go on, make a difference, stand up for what you believe in. Show the world how brave you are for giving freedom to people that don't have it.

I'm waiting for the excuses...........

Be fair, mate. You know that you need to be physically able to do the job. The military cannot afford to always apply the "equal opportunities" policy and so being paralysed from the neck up disqualifies him from active service role.

Yeah, and what will you have to eat then? :-P

I think that Wilse's point isn't so much the fact that the dogs are being shot but

1) The fact the place is now such a sh*t tip that starving animals are eating the decomposing remains of people, not all of whom, regardless of any crap you can spout, are "freedom hating terr'ist fighters". There are plenty of civilian dead too. How would you feel as a fallujan refugee, knowing someone dear to you lies dead, unburied, festering in the sun and being chewed on by feral dogs?

2) That the soldiers are being demoralized by shooting animals when they can shoot people often without pause enough to know if they are a threat or not.

Dogs don't shoot back. Killing a terrorist that's trying to kill you is a lot different then putting down a defenseless animal.

Perhaps, but I think the jury is still out on whether they were all "terrorists" or just people defending their homes. As it is, there's plenty of evidence to support the latter.

@Wilse,

Yes, I know about the destruction and death, I was referring to the resistance in that statement.

Dogs don't shoot back. Killing a terrorist that's trying to kill you is a lot different then putting down a defenseless animal.
And therein lies the flaw of your argument, although you do seem totally incapable of comprehending the notion that not every iraqi in fallujah is a terrorist insurgent. In reality, it's just that the forces there are operating on the assumption they must be - after all it is physically less risky to kill first and ask questions later. Civilians? Well, they can always be brushed aside as collateral damage.
I mean after all, who is going to prosecute?

Besides, they were all supposed to just get up and flee before the US went in and shelled everything standing, so anybody who stayed behind must have just been begging for a bullet, eh? Never mind that even *after* the troops went in there were still women and children making their way out - I mean even fox showed that one.

This is the grotesque reality of modern warfare and after all the battles fought in the 20th century I am frankly stunned that you cannot see this.

And your flaw is the assumption that the killing of civilians is a normal and expected practice. Perhaps it's your disapproval of the war, or the people that brought it that lends you to the notion that all US military is evil. I'd like to see some concrete facts (not from an Arab or Muslim run news source of course) before I'd make a blind assumption like you.

And in your mind the US soldiers were shooting them as they left? Again, please show me some proof of this mass civilian killing spree that you assume the US is on.

I'm stunned that you are so closed minded that you judge the entire military on the actions of a very small group.

And, I pose to you this question. If the there are all innocent, then who's killing the soldiers, security forces, etc.? Surely not the women and children?

Aparantly it wasn't that devastating, 10 marines have been killed in the area in the past two days. I say "area" because the Marines now don't give out any details as to where or how they die, just a simple number of dead.
