My initial reason for writing this blog was documenting my return to Amiga. I feel now I reached a point as a AmigaOS4 user, where my experiences are based on enough prior knowledge that a beginner, or somebody who just came back to the platform, wouldn´t be able to follow my casual Amiga chatter.
Consequently I stop writing this blog now and will go back to posting my current thoughts on my own website in german.

In the last few days, I was printing CD inlays with AmiFig, pixeling a banner with Deluxe Paint and editing my website with CygnusED. Furthermore I was checking out the PC-version of Hollywood, listening to Leo Lapporte over TuneNet and reading "Extraleben" - a german book about my generation and the addiction to video games and old computers. I played Bubble Bobble on the C64 and Gianas Return on SAM. In other words: I was having a good time.

Lately I tried to move some of my podcasting-workflow to SAM. HDRec came in handy, so was FFMPeg. Websites were quickly coded with CynusEd, but the first, second and last steps of the production required Mac and PC.
The first step - making a conference call - was known to be difficult on Sam, so I did not even try to find something to replace skype.
The second step - recording myself - required me to figure how to connect my mic to the Sam-mainboard. I think I did everything...

I have never built a computer from scratch, so I was a little excited when yesterday the new tower case arrived. Consciously I waited till late hours of the eventing to guarantee for a quiet undisturbed time. Nothing should break my concentration. Armed with only a phillips screwdriver I started the transplant.
To my surprise most of the connectors in todays hardware are somewhat fool proof. I didn´t have to look into the boards maual except for the pins to power, leds and reset.

Today I got an HP Postscript laser printer from eBay. After setting up lpr.device and assigning an IP-address to the printer it all seems to work great, except that AmiPDF and Pagestream seem to have different meters: AmiPDF printouts are about 10% smaller than the preview in Pagestream. Oh and AbiWrite from AmiCygnix will for some reason prefer to print in 150 DPI (which looks funky).
But apart from these small disturbances the printouts look really great and it didn´t take me long...
