uIEC:
My uIEC has been working great, but I really needed a way to disconnect it fully without opening the case. My first thought was to put a SPST toggle switch inline to break the power. BZZT, no go. Next thought was to use the toggle switch to break the ATN line. BZZT again. For testing purposes I tried disconnecting both power and ATN, but there were still problems. To do:
Add more device switches so both 1571 drives and the 1581 can be selected to any device number 8-11.
Add power switches for both 1571 drives and 1581 drive.
Build a RTC module.
Add a power/disconnect board to the uIEC so it may be completely disconnected by a toggle switch.
Build a modified Quickscan board and mount internally.
Mount a motherboard reset switch to the front of the case.
Mount an IEC (floppy) reset switch to the front of the case....

Just a small update. I had taken a little bit of a break to simply USE this computer, but I am not moving forward again. I am proceeding with installing a 1581 disk drive internally.

The picture below is misleading, it is more difficult than simply throwing a common PC floppy drive in a 5.25->3.25 adapter. A typical PC floppy drive will not work. An original 1581 drive is the wrong dimensions and has no standard faceplate. What was used in the end was a modified Chinon FZ-357A drive....
