Review of AmigaKit's Sam460ex Complete System

Part 4 - The Conclusion

Believe it or not, the lengthy write-up of my experience with AmigaKit's Sam460ex Complete System was easy compared to trying to write this conclusion. Keep in mind that this is just my opinion after a relatively short time using the system and I'm sure not everyone will agree with it. It is not my goal to convince anyone of anything here. I have tried to state the facts as best I could and you are free to make your own opinion but I will offer up mine for...

Part 3.2 - The Software cont'd

“I’ve got to get myself some paint,” I said to myself. I needed to go online and start downloading some things to do on this Sam460ex. In the end I did end up spending the whole night on the computer but, unfortunately I wasn’t playing with it; I was fighting with it.

Configuring the network settings was simply a nightmare and the Quickstart guide only made it worse. In the OS4.1 drive is an “Internet” drawer with the programs “New Connection”,...

Part 2.3 - The Hardware cont'd

After getting over that disappointing discovery of the broken pegs, I went back to investigating the system. The innards seem neat and tidy and AmigaKit has hot-glued most of the wires and cards in place.

(Please note the eSATA connector does NOT come standard. My original internal photos were of poor quality...

Part 2.2 - The Hardware cont'd

After quickly perusing the guides, I moved on to opening the bigger box, the one with the actual computer in it. However, as I slipped the computer out of the box and pulled off the styrofoam, something didn’t sound right. There was something rattling inside the computer case. On the positive side, the case was tightly wrapped in multiple layers of thin plastic-wrap and the front cover had a nice sheet of protective plastic stuck to it. After removing...
