Posted 05-30-2009 at 06:25 PM by Wayne

About four months ago now, in February 2009 or so, I got the notice from our Web hosting provider that -- whether we liked it or not -- things were going to change for

As everyone here knows, I pulled my hair out trying to decide what to do to best serve the community and to maybe inject a little fun back into the site.

I was, as always, primarily concerned with losing users, as I knew first and foremost that Amiga users (more than most groups) LOATHE change,...

Amix is really slow

Posted 06-23-2009 at 08:07 PM by Failure

NetBSD 5.0 is way faster than Amix 2.1, at least so far. About the only thing that Amix does faster is scroll the screen if I'm using the console directly. It also boots slightly faster if you're not using DNS. Preliminary benchmarks show huge improvements in disk throughput. It really puts Amiga UNIX to shame.

Other novelties include mounting my AmigaDOS partitions, using CD-ROM for installation, being able to use the "entire" 4.5GB HD, etc.

I'm wondering...

How to find your Sky+HD box mac address

Posted 08-02-2011 at 03:20 PM by xeron (Amiga, Wii, random other stuff.)

If you are a Sky+HD TV subscriber, and also have Sky broadband, all you have to do to use the new Anytime+ video on demand service is connect the ethernet port on your set top box to your broadband router, and request activation on the sky website.

Great, except that my router is in a different room to my Sky+HD box, and I don't want to move them together, or run a wire through. So, instead I bought a WiFi to ethernet bridge, which allows you to use any wired ethernet device as a...

Anyone into NIBIRU, RED KACHINA, RED DRAGON (i.e., the return of the Red Planet)?

A funny thing happened on the way to see what comets were appearing in the year 2011.

A little background first: back when I was on Moobunny (Cyberbunny Amiga), someone (I think it was Dammy or Atheist2 or someone else) had asked me what I thought about Nibiru. I didn't know a thing about it then, and said so.

Flash-forward to 2011, way after I had left the Amiga Community and anything Amiga, to pursue other things, there I was on the net looking for what new comets were...

"The Luminary" (an epic poem and parody)

Came across this--I don't think I shared this with the Amiga community before. Done a few years back, in the style, pace, rhythm, etc., of Poe's The Raven...

"The Luminary"
a parody by EyeAm

Once upon a computer room dreary, while I chatted weak and weary,
Over many a quaint and curious amount of forgotten Amigan pain,
While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly came some tripe a'yapping,
As of some troll's mindless yapping, yapping
