The right to protest...

Suddenly seems far less comfortable when you're on the business end tasked with protecting something likely to be a target for invasion...
Yup, that's right, after being trained up ready to go into the remote monitoring side, it seems that I'm now going to be guarding the local council housing/benefits office in the centre of town next Friday. At the time of the Lib Dem (part of the coalition government) conference.
To be clear, as a security guard in the UK I'm armed with the following:
Don't get me wrong, I still fully support the right to protest, I'm just not that keen on being placed in a situation that requires me to exercise the more bellicose side of my training to stop myself getting a pasting at the hands of the nastier elements that always seem to show up at these sorts of events.

- A day glow jacket with the company logo on.
- A small torch (powered by 2 AA batteries)
- A winning smile.
