Sky Satellite is Crap!
Spent most of my lovely sunday afternoon, stood on the bottom run of a ladder while dear friends attempted to resolve why my Sky 1,2 and 3 channels were showing no signal.
I have been having intermittant Sky channels for the last few months since the UK Sky tv service decided to upgrade their EPG on their receivers (Well its not their receiver anymore but like chickens waiting for the knife, Sky decide when and where you receive updates whether you want them or not).
Some say according the interweb "Ah its the Thomson HD Box it must be the PSU", no....some say its a bad lnb.....and some the dish, or just blame Jesus because his picture was etched in the toast...na strike that its Murdoch's son, trying to get everyone to buy new boxes because the warranty has ran out.
Anyway back to the Dish, I bought a new dish (big one) and a new lnb this morning at a sale, so it came to pass after and not before the Grandprix that we should stick it up the 15 feet or so at the side of the house and change it for the old one.
Ah ladders, (Don't have any) so theres me with a borrowed set of ladders hanging out the back of my Xantia and within an hour we have the new dish up and the old down. Cracking.....Ah..sadly no signal at all but hey I've got a new dish and a new lnb.
So the next 4 hours my friends try without success to get a signal on Sky 1,2 or 3.....And then we tried it with another receiver....no signal, then we got close, then not, then close again and not....(u can see where this is going) and close again and finally by close of play at 7.30pm with the light fading I still don't have any of the three channels I want fixed.
It just doesn't make any sense really it doesn't, if you shove the Dish on a Freesat box...we get even Sky 3 a bit....but the Sat Meter Needle is all over the place. So we are back to the assumption that its got to be tree's buildings and clouds. So tomorrow we are going to push it up another 5 feet and see if that does it.
Total time spent 6 hours and no cigar............ all to watch telly.
