Looks like the security gig is up.

Reason? Failed security check due to a week and a half gap between April and May where I quit midweek on one job and had a jolly whilst waiting for the start date of the next.

Shame really, was really quite enjoying being able to look people in the eye again. Not to mention the boost to my self confidence overall.

But given this, I think getting another job in the security industry is a non starter.

    Not sure I understand... You lost your job because you had a break between two previous jobs?

    I'm likely to loose it because of that, yes. Whilst I haven't lost it yet, my probationary period is ending within the next week.

    I can't show what I was doing during that break (as it happens I was in the bottom of a bottle post a significant proportion of my family dying over the previous months) and the SIA (the authority that grants licences and oversee companies) require that employees have a fully checkable history.

    So yeah, it's entirely possible that it's game over. I can't prove I was smashed out of my gourd for a week and a half any more than I can show I was on the moon. About the only thing I can prove is that I wasn't in trouble with the law, which isn't enough, apparently.

    Then again when I signed on with the company they did say there was a distinct possibility that if my history couldn't be cleared, this could happen. And my history is pretty darn spotty, although the other spots are accounted for.
