I've just bought a 3Com megahertz 3CCE589ET 10Mbps PCMCIA lan card. I've been trying to connect it to the internet via my Netgear DG834 Switch/ADSL Modem/Router/Gateway using Miami 3.2b (demo version). I've been using the router fine for months with 3 PCs running win2k and xp, so I'm sure the router is set up correctly.

Unfortunately, I just can't get it to work with the amiga - the light on the pcmcia card comes on, and the corresponding light comes on on the router, so I'm guessing at least there is a signal going to the router from the amiga card. However, if I set up miami to use DCHP (which the router is set up for) it cannot resolve an ip address. If I use a static ip, subnet mask and gateway, miami will go online straight away, and seem to be working fine, however i cannot access any sites in Ibrowse. Also, if i go into the router's configuration screen using another PC in the network, the router does not detect the amiga as being connected.

Does anyone know any extra options in Miami I should check, or anything else that may be causing this problem? :-?

Hi,

I got it working recently.

Using a DynalinkL10c network controller.
(cnet.device must support your network card to work)

These are my settings:

Interface:
All set to DHCP
(DONT FORGET to query device for your Sana-II parameters)

PPP and Dialer
Not rellevant I think.

Database:
In hosts I have localhost as 127.0.0.1 but thats there by default I think (not sure about it).

In DNS servers I added the IP of my router

No further changes in the database section.

TCPIP:
Hostname: Dynamic is unchecked. Hostname is localhost
UseIMCP checked
UseDHCP checked
Verify DNS servers checked
T/TCP checked
Auto Add domain checked

The rest is unchecked.
Real name and user name is not rellevant.

For the other options; I left them mostly default.

Hope this helps you out.

(It works on both my A600 (2MB) and my A1200)

Regards
Erno

Just a blind shot:

Have you checked what kind of cable does the router needs? Some routers accept both crossed and straight cables, but some do not...

I'm using my A1200 through a router with both Miami and Roadshow without problems :¬/

Saluditos,

Ferrán.

Oops double post!

Apologies for that but it happens to me all the time I press the Back button.

Sorry.
