"The head of the Iraqi Governing Council was killed in a suicide car bombing near a checkpoint outside the coalition headquarters in central Baghdad on Monday, dealing a blow to U.S. efforts to stabilize Iraq ahead of a handover of sovereignty on June 30."
"A roadside bomb containing sarin (http://apnews.myway.com/article/20040517/D82KDJC81.html) nerve agent also exploded recently near a U.S. military convoy in Baghdad, Brig. Gen. Mark Kimmitt confirmed Monday"

This can't be right! Because everybody knows, as the wimps have repeatedly told us, that there are no WMDs in Iraq.

One old shell that didn't even work left over from the Iran-Iraq war that's probably been in some hole somewhere hardly constitutes the massive pile of WMDs our glorious leaders told us we'd find. They don't wriggle off the hook that easy.

I won't completly disagree with you Kenny but the press here has been constantly repeating that there are no WMD in Irag and never were (after the first war). Now one shell does not constitute a stockpile (as you inferred) but it might imply that where one exists, there are more. At least now the press has to choose their words a little more carefully. Oh yeah, there are two that have been found... http://www.cnn.com/2004/WORLD/meast/05/17/iraq.main/index.html . Time will tell.

This can't be right! Because everybody knows, as the wimps have repeatedly told us, that there are no WMDs in Iraq.First off, the two stories aren't even connected (ie, two seperate incidents). Secondly, according to the coalition authority (that's you guys), the device was an old artillery shell dating back to before '91 (ie, Iran-Iraq war era weapon). The same authority also stated that it was unclear if those who planted the bomb even knew what it was, as using sarin gas as a land mine doesn't make much sense - if they knew it was sarin gas they probably would have lobbed it into the green zone where it would have had far more effect at least from a terrorism perspective. Thirdly, I'd be more concerned about an exit strategy then trying to justify this bogus war over a half baked sarin shell of unknown origin found on some desert road.
My sources: 'Nerve gas bomb' explodes in Iraq (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/3722255.stm).

Now one shell does not constitute a stockpile (as you inferred) but it might imply that where one exists, there are more. Well this is all nonsense. One must allow for the possibility that older weapons have gone missing. Remember, this was a shell dating back to when Iraq was at war with Iran. Is it possible a shipment got ambushed and weapons got lost or were stolen by the enemy or rebel groups? Well of course, as we can see, this happens all the time. Just last week Shia groups stole a cache of American weapons, and it's safe to assume that they scavange any weapons dropped by fallen Americans after an ambush. It's still not unusual to find unexploded WWII era munitions in Europe. One would be a fool to believe that every single chemical shell has been accounted for, simply because these things get lost all the time.
But that's not why the US invaded Iraq. The US invaded Iraq because it accussed Saddam of building a new supply of chemical weapons, and that's what the weapons inspectors were really there for. As far as that is concerned the media is still correct to say that no WMD have been found.

Hoya!
@Fade
Sorry, I have always thought there were no more WMDs in Iraq than up my bum and I am not a wimp anyway...
The fact that a relic has been found does not legitimate Bush's lies...
Moreover, shells from WWI are still found in France, Belgium abd other countries...

@Fade:
Even if the reputed 80,000 litres, or whatever it was, turns up,
it won't change my mind about the real reasons for the invasion.
WMDs were an excuse from the beginning. I though Saddam *DID* have
stockpiles of chemical and biological stuff, but I was still against
the invasion.
(I always knew the nuclear stuff was a lie because there is no
way 'we' would have invaded, had that been true.)
The invasion of Iraq was planned years ago.
The combination of the WTC disaster and Iraq's failure to fully
comply with UN resolutions, gave your government the excuse it
was craving. My government had already declared itself with yours,
for better for worse, so Blair went along with it.
What amuses me is that the war was suddenly about freeing Iraqis, once
it became apparent that it was actually *saddam* who was telling
the truth and *us* who were lying.
Now we find a relic of a twenty year old war and it's the WMD chant
again.
Pathetic.
As for the title of this thread and the relevance of Salim's murder..?
Perhaps you can explain?

Please see above. They all bit.Yep, we sure did. You "bullies" make it too easy for us "wimps". I also noticed you had no counter argument (but then, you never did... ). Thinking has never been your strong point, has it?
