Hi all, I have a Sam460 (lite from amigakit) with a radeon hd4650 installed.
Rather than wait who knows how long for composting and 3d support for the card I am thinking of getting a 9250 card.
Will it just be as simple as replacing one with the other as I believe the hd4650 is in a pci express port?

As you have a PCI slot on your motherboard, you'll have to get a 9250 PCI card (the 9250 does not come in a PCIe variant).

Get the 9000pro, faster and better than the 9250.
If you can't find one the 9200 is faster than the 9250.

Ok, thanks.
I have just read that a download called wazp3d will let me run 3d through hardware rendering. Anyone used this?

I was considering mentioning this, but the difference wasn't that great (an 8500 would be even better, but I don't know if there are PCI versions or if OS4 supports it).

I am thinking of getting a 460ex.... Is there a PCI-E videocard I could get that would work with the current release of OS4.1, including compositing and 3D stuff?

That one ought to work.
It seems rather high priced though (then again, it is the UK).
For comparison, a US listing.

If you go for a 9250 be carefull are they exist in different flavor.
this model is anyway a cheap (less powerfull) 9200 but be sure to get one at 128-bits otherwise it will crawl !
I made this mistake by taking any pci 9250 card and my one is 64-bits, much slower than my previous 7500 but now I have a 9000 pro and very happy with it (on A1G4).
