Enjoy an epic two hour journey down memory lane and the exciting history of the golden age of computers. A well qualified and exciting host brings you back to those golden years. Relive and love those fun and exciting times with your host Hans. He keeps it fun and never a dull moment in those long fulfilling two hours. It's better than a multimillion dollar budget Hollywood film! I'm shocked this is free and we did not have to pay for it!

Doomy's my hero, when I grow up I wanna be just like him... :)

Bring Back Doomy... :)

I love the way his eyes roll about in his head in two different directions just before he speaks at the start of each video, that's talent that is... :)

Bring Back Doomy... :)

I think the guy got a raw deal and is just a little misunderstood, I mean we get shafted everyday by our governments but do MP's Prime Ministers, Congressmen and Presidents get lifetime bans and the harsh (fascist ) treatment poor old Doomy gets... nooooo they dont....

Bring Back Doomy... :)

Sites like this need an oddball character like Doomy to keep it on it's toes and provoke some hard thinking conversations that otherwise might never be had without the odd weirdo or two on a site, not to mention of course the humour he would bring (we wont mention the wars though)... :)

Bring Back Doomy... :)

PS: I've watched all those videos from begining to end on many occasions and they haven't done me any harm... :)

PPS: I'm a tree... :)

PPPS: I'm not a doormat I'm a matador.... :)

PPPPS: Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee... :)

I love this. Although I was really young during most of it I still remember a time in which choosing a computer platform actually meant being unable to easily share information between computers, if at all.

Today the arguments are kind of funny because I can easily share information between my Windows, Mac and Ubuntu computers with little trouble. The occasional hiccups with this sharing are nothing compared to what it would mean to share a text document back when my father was showing me how to use a TI computer.

Those were the days. I remember going to bbs get togethers where different groups of users would argue the virtue of their chosen platforms. There was so much more choice in those days, so many different options.

On an amiga, I could be on a chatboard or bbs downloading something while I was working on another screen or playing a game. On other computers you could not multitask, at least not well. To me, it was just beautiful and I would not even listen to people I considered idiots telling me about pc's. YEECH. I remember other computer users seeing my setup and just drooling at the demos, all those colors and the digital sound.

Now we have mac, pc and linux and all running on virtually the same archetecture. Kinda bland in comparison to those times.

This must be why professionals are so upset about Final Cut Pro X. The editing features mustn't be really good considering how this video turned out :)

Arduously got through only the first clip and a half before I could stand it no more. Wouldn't be a half bad production if it wasn't for the editing and our creepy friend hosting it.

-edit-

Okay, so I skipped around some and caught this clip about the C64 dust cover. The Doommaster talks about it like it's the greatest thing since sliced bread, but never once demonstrates its action or shows what it looks like covering the keyboard. Really, I could care less, but since he introduced his arms and hands to the frame, may as well have demonstrated the damn thing!

Those videos were fun to watch for many reasons. I agree with save, somewhat creepy, but still fun. It's nice to see Doomy behave well. :)

It looks as though he is actually recording this video in 1985 or something (the fashion, the technology, the pace of the show, etc., all make it look soooo oldschool 1980s). :-)

This was time well wasted. He sounded like an instruction video from the 80s and everything looked like it too. It was boring, thing I already knew and...

Man, I'm feeling sick after watching this. It's like me putting out all my old computer stuff that I've bought over the years and go "this is bla bla bla, this is bla bla bla, then I bought...". OMG

He mentions that the SID chip was so good it used in early PC soundcards - The latter part of which I believe is incorrect. I know it was used later in fairly esoteric custom PC cards marketed to a small group of musicians and classic hardware fans, but he implies it was used in the first generation of PC soundcards because of its technological features.

The guy is a legend. He is simply adorable... :knuddel:

Warning. It's the quiet ones you have to watch out for. Warnings signs are at the beginning of each vid with his awkward glancing around at everything around him :nervous:

I wonder if Doomy owned more than one shirt?

:-) That is funny, I wondered the same thing.

I thought it was an ok video but two things bothered me:

1. When he encountered the Atari ST upon seeing the ray traced ball demo which I thought was the Juggler. I didn't think the Atari ST had anything ray traced at that point in time.

2. He could have better edited the video in the beginning and the end for each post.

It takes all kinds in this world and he is one of the more unique. :-)

Cheers!

I aint offended... :D

Having read all the crap about this guy (Doomy) all I can say is, he's never done me any harm, I find his stuff amusing (mainly because I think he takes it all too seriously) but lot of the stuff I have read about him seem to be from people like yourself who obviously think they are better than the rest of us... ;)

Some people need to figgin lighten up a wee bit and stop being complete and utter a-holes all their lives... :)

PS: Judging by your last sentence in that post, I reckon you must be at least five years old (mentally)... :)

It's probably not up to mill spec yet and so we'll have to wait a wee bit longer... :)

Doomy's had tons of sites but they all get shut down after a while (especially his model train store one, that's been shut down three times) no doubt he'll start another one up soon (or already has), you've just got to follow the clues to find them, that's all... :)

Because it's the the LAW in the UK, you MUST buy a TV Licence every year if you own a TV set, DVD Recorder or anything with a Tuner in it that is capaable of picking up a TV signal, whether you watch the BBC or not, or even use them, simply owning anything with a tuner in it requires you to buy a licence...

The alternative is a £1000 fine or jail, it's government extortion & the longest running protection racket in the world today... :furious:

As for giving the money to the peasants, nah... then they wouldn't be peasants any more and who would then be left to give all this money you claim I have too...

PS: Charles Manson's life story is indeed very entertaining... ;)

I'm not sure if they have this is England but in Australia they used to have something called "windows tax". This means you had to pay tax for your windows in your house! Where i live you actually see houses that were built with no windows because the owners were unwilling or unable to pay the tax.

Where i live you actually see houses that were built with no windows because the owners were unwilling or unable to pay the tax.

That tax dates back to the 16th or 17th century I recall. When glass for windows was first invented the governments saw how popular it was and thought it would be a nice wee earner for them if the taxed it... ;)

You had to pay tax on each window you had in your house and so only rich folk back then could really afford it, I think the tax was still in force here in the UK up until the industrial revolution, when the government decided to drop it because factories that sprang up needed windows to let in light so that workers could see what they were doing... :)

So they dropped the "window tax" and instead started taxing all the goods that were being produced in the new factories which more than made up for the lost income of the "window tax"... :)

It wouldn't really matter in most places in Scotland today, cos almost all the windows are broken by the neds & hooligans... ;)

Every other channel is free (ITV, CH4, Channel 5 etc...) and any others you want can be bought on subscription like Virgin Broadband (cable) or Sky (satellite)... :)

BUT... none of that matters, even if you had NO TV set in your house and say you only had a DVD Recorder & an old computer monitor and only watched DVD's, you still by LAW in this mental country MUST BUY A TV LICENCE, because the DVD recorder contains a tuner...

Like I say it's the longest running government sponsored protection racket going and the idiots in this country moan about it but just like the "Poll Tax" they do sod all about it...

PS: Just remembered something, folk all over Europe the east & middle east can watch and listen to the BBC for free and yet in the UK whether you watch the BBC or not you must pay them every year for a licence...
