With thise sock meme going strong for years now on this forum, and the fact that the ordinary men who cannot but watch the Order of the Sock members in their ivory tower and thereby never be able to share their sock adventures, I thought it was time to give a reachout for all those unfortunate.

I generally prefer it when they still bend.

Eh, I wasn't yet ready with the poll. I guess that's felt-ish then. :)

Edit: Speel, old lad! How are you?Hey Whabang,
I'm doing quite well. Finished my study finally a year ago, and working since, and recently stumbled across a great career opportunity :)
Still single though..
How are you?

Hang on a minute that other poll about the accelerator board must be the shortest lived poll ever, what happened to it...
Anyway on the subject of socks I never wash mine I just throw them away each day and wear a new pair each day so I don't know which box to tick... :)

Same old, same old. Happily divorced, working my arse off to have somehting to do with my time, and drinking like a sponge to cope with the work. ;)

Real men die from liver or heart conditions. Or gunshot wounds.

The '060 wasn't really in stock at Software Hut. He may have to go with an '030 instead.

I like my socks matching, clean, and always with the right foot put on first. I've actually become so obsessed with putting them on in the right order that if I ever forget and do it wrong, I have to put them on correctly twice to cancel out the error :-/

How about gunshot wounds through the heart / liver? Does that earn double masculinity experience points?

Sounds a bit OCD. I mean CDO, the letters have to be in ascending order, after all...

Or a bullet through a cirrhotic liver or a fat-lined artery?

Or a bullet through a cirrhotic liver or a fat-lined artery?
Maybe the fat would deflect the bullet slightly, thus preventing an arterial rupture?

Yep, very much OCD. People at work laugh at the way everything on my desk is parallel, and how I can't touch taps :-/

Hmm maybe. However, surely the impact would cause some of the fat deposit to become dislodged, resulting either in a heart attack, a stroke, or a fatal embolism in some other part of the body. Either way, a glorious death is inevitable!

What would you do if confronted with a curved desk? I had one of those in a previous job, it was highly asymmetric.

I think the poll is fairly conclusive so far; most people would seem to prefer theirs not stiffened to the point of brittleness by the repeated soaking up of unwanted seed and being left to dry.

Actually my current employer is very understanding and wouldn't dream of imposing such asymmetry on me! I did once have to ask my boss to cover up a velvet scarf she had on her desk as the texture was a bit disturbing...

How so?
I'm averse to a multitude of textures, and seeing things made of materials of those textures reminds me of what the texture feels like, and it's almost as bad as actually touching the object.
I once had to hide a lamp under a chair and cover it with a shirt because it had a velvet shade. However, I also had to put shoes on the edges and sleeves of the shirt so it wouldn't touch the shade, as even the thought of the shirt touching the velvet made me uncomfortable. Even writing about it now is making me feel rather unwell!

I know I'll probably be nailed to a board for heresy...but the only part of my anatomy that has ever been adorned by a sock is my feet...

Nope, I don't mind at all. I've embraced my OCD and I find it helps me a lot. The textural aversion is probably not OCD, and is much less helpful, particularly on a day when I'm so sensitive that I can't stand the feel of putting socks on my feet or to touch toilet paper :-/

Me neither - I have never partaken of the pleasures of the sock.
(Amusing iPad Freudian autocorrect: "me neither" -> "me mother")
