**** Note from seller ****
I found the Apple Restore CDs so the Mac Mini now comes with those also. http://www.amibay.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

Selling a nice running and clean Apple Mac Mini computer. Sale includes the Apple Mac Mini that is a G4 1.25GHz processor, Mac Mini AC Adapter Power Supply, 1GB Memory, 120GB Hard Drive, Apple Keyboard, Apple Mouse, and User Manual. Does not include OS X on CD but I have done a fresh install on this Mini so it is ready to be used. The system works nicely and I have it connect to my 30" TV Monitor right now via a VGA adapter so upon pickup (if you are local) of the system you can see the system booting and running before you buy it. The vga adapter is not included so you either need to provide your own if using an older VGA monitor or use a stock DVI monitor since that is the port on the Mac Mini anyway. Most all monitors these days are stock dvi and that is what the mini has.

I took a quick video today showing the system booting and running and posted it to YouTube so see this link to see the system running.

Why is it that when mac users sell their systems...they NEVER include the os disk?
I know that every mac comes with one!

If I was the original owner, it would have, but I purchased the Mini used to tinker with MorphOS and the seller did not provide me with CDs, so therefore, I don't have any. :(

I had to use my set from another Mac I have to install on the Mini. OS X 10.4 should be cheap enough to buy on those other auction sites we know about so not a big deal in my opinion. Just the way it goes is all.

It's a deal to me. I bought a mac mini and had to buy the os disk too.
The user included everything cables, mice etc, but no os disks.
When I asked, he said most mac users keep the disks. Why?
They are machine specific.

Not sure why one would keep them either. For whatever reason, all the minis I looked at non had cds. Weird I guess.

Since I have a 10.4 I could probably make a copy of it for the person buying the mini from me. Would have to buy a blank dvd and see I guess.

So, anyone looking to get the mini, I can see what I can do about a bootable OS X install. I have had years and years of Macs so maybe I have a copy left behind from olden days. Might have even been 10.3 that came with these older Minis. I am sure I can figure something out.

Anyway, comparing my price to fleebay pricing, I think I have a rather nice deal anyway price wise. Most I see on eBay have 1/2 the memory I have and 1/3 the hard drive space as most the 1.25ghz models came with only a 40GB drive and mine has a 120GB which is nice.

Yes, this is a good deal. I would normally be uber tempted, but I plan on purchasing a dual core 27" iMac and putting my 21" G5 down in the basement or iTunes, etc.

But the comments about Mac owners not including the original disks... (ahem) as if IBM clone users ever include anything original?!? C'mon. And how many Amiga re-sellers you see include original OS, or otherwise (especially OS3.9) disks? lmao Yeah, I guess I see people often including =<1.3 OS disks come to think of it.

Today's restore disks for IBM clones *are* specific to a certain brand, with a certain peripheral config. Quite useless to keep for ones self as your computing needs "evolve", or not.

Unless I'm totally out of the loop (been a few years since I tried this), restore disks for Mac's may be machine specific, but work within an entire line of Mac computers. And since Mac's represent better resale value years beyond a comparable WinTel machine, people have found it beneficial to hang on to their originals so they may continue to repurpose machines they've landed on the cheap or whatever. Personally though, I think what's just as bad is not including all of the original manuals and boxes for this stuff.

Oh, but back to where these original disks may go... there's this intrinsic value thing many Mac, Commodore and Atari owners all share - but we won't go into that :)

I would say out of the dozens of Amigas I see for sale in the classifieds, almost all of them include the Workbench and Extras disks.
With Windows, you're better off without the original disks, since they're either a software restore disc full of crapware, or a horribly outdated version of the OS. As long as you have the sticker with the product key, you can just reinstall from an updated install disc that you burn yourself.

Never bought a used wintel, so no worries there.
Just bought my first used mac ever. Getting the os disk cost more then the mac!

Talked to several for sale mac folks, they ALL would not include the disk.
Two even admitted they had one.

Computing cultist bastards! lol Did you ask why they wouldn't include it in a sale? I'm telling you... either for repurposing or that strange cultist Apple "value" thing.

Weirdness.

All my systems I purchased new and being the original owner, I keep all the boxes, disks, etc... So, when I sell it, it is like the buyer is getting a new system complete like when I purchased it, just it is used now. :hammer:

In the case of the mini, this was a 2nd hand purchase so it came without it. I think the OS that came with mine was 10.3 which should be easy enough for me to make a bootable copy of so if the new buyer has no OS at all and new to Mac, I figure I will try that for them.

This makes your sale a better deal.

Good luck

Given that Apple updates it's OS frequently they probably wouldn't be 10.4 anyway...

Funny news.... I found the Apple Restore CDs that came with the Mac Mini after all of this talk about CDs not being included. With the Mini I had a Lacie 250GB Hard Drive USB/Firewire Hub that I used with it that has been acting flakey so I did not list it for sale. I opened the Lacie box and what do I find, the Apple CDs. hehehe. So, the seller did sell them to me and did not even know it. He told me they were not included. Well, I got em. hehehe.

So, although I have a local buyer saying they are coming by tomorrow to buy this, I decided I would make note that it now comes with the original Apple Restore CDs. If the buyer flakes and does not come by (craigslist is one flakey place for buyers), then I figured you all should know.

So, same price as before but you get the 2 Apple CDs now also. Pretty hot deal.

Now I need to tinker with the LaCie unit to see if I can get that to work. Maybe loose connection on the cables inside the case or something. Cost me $100 + shipping for the little LaCie and it is made specifically for the Mini so hoping I can get it to work and then resell later on fleebay or whatever as they go for good money and look cool with the Minis.

Here is what the LaCie looks like just so you know. It is NOT included with the Mac Mini sale but a separate deal. Figured I would post it here so that way if Craigslist person flakes, I may sell this LaCie also, not working (or working when it sees fit) for 1/2 what I paid. I can move it around and then it works for a few days. Then stops. Unplug and move around, and it works again. Right now it is in the non working phase. :(

Here is a link to the LaCie for those interested.

Just a note that the Mac Mini system is still available for sale. I had 2 local buyers and neither showed. Good old craigslist flakes. Neither even emailed me saying they could not make it. Anyway....

So, the Mac Mini is still officially on the market and again, INCLUDES the original Restore CDs so a great deal for this mini if you want to explore MorphOS or just want a nice little Mac.
