Could anyone use this to connect an Amiga to the Internet?

According to the documentation it can support SLIP, so it should be usable.

Configuration might be tricky, but for the price it doesn't look bad at all.

hmmm.

I never seenig before, but look intersting...

would be nice to know if anybody has ever used. Becuse maybe can use with any Amiga Model!..

The first one, no, not without a custom hardware and software interface. The second one, yes, assuming the Amiga has the resources to run an available IP stack like AmiTCP/Genesis or Miami.

Serial port, isn't it? Back in the days we used to run slip or ppp over nullmodem with a un*x machine in the other end. Today this un*x machine is replaced with a tiny computer that fits into the connector that you can plug directly into the serial port. :)

So you plug it in and power it up, it offers command line interface that you can access via terminal program or "dial up" scripts of Miami/AmiTCP/Genesi to configure its TCP/IP stack. After initial commands to get it online, you tell it you want to run ppp, and off you go. Quite brilliant really, only problem is speed, which is limited by the slow serial interface of the amiga.

Heather, from Amibay, have the parallel version of this device. It is an amazing (her words) piece of kit.

Parallel version is insanely priced, anyway. (~120USD, IIRC).

The first link has a parallel type connection, I think it is aimed at micro controlers.
I do not see why it would not work.
