Unfortunatelly some companies have bad habits to complicate the programmer's (& user's) life.

From the USB Scanners on Linux (http://www.buzzard.org.uk/jonathan/scanners-usb.html) :

Canon appear to be unwilling to release the necessary documentation to enable a Linux driver and SANE backend to be written. The status of these models is unknown, and no know backend is in development. Other Canon backends have all been written by reverse engineering the scanners.


Not to speak for the Canon Photo quality printer cartridge, that the Turboprint Team had to experiment themselves in order to create a driver for AMiGA (that cannot support glossy paper yet).

Well that does it. I think I'm taking the splurge. I would have bought it earlier, but I need to dig out my Superbundle Serial number (at least that's if the SuperBundle discounts can be applied to these already great prices. :-D)
