The crew of #amigaone IRC channel on undernet need your help.
We are aiming to build a good strong user base of Amiga users present on our channel. We want to achieve this before the eventual release of OS4.0 coupled with the new AmigaONE systems.
We need more people who like IRC to hang out at the channel and are able to provide a good source of help for our visitors or even just to chat about the good old days and where things are heading.
Many Amiga related IRC channels are silent at the best of times, but we want to change the face of Amiga IRC and make it a fun place to be.
If you fancy helping us out then pop along to our site to find out what it?s all about or connect directly to this server address: eu.undernet.org port 6667-7000 channel: #amigaone
Regards
Fly^ (Channel Manager)

If it was on ARCNet, i'd pop along, but i'm not going to be connected to 3 different servers just to frequent this channel. (I usually connect to ARCNet and IRCNet)

Our channel BOT is set to kick people running pirate copies of Amirc only. If an OP kicked you it would be for one of the following reasons http://policy.amigaone-irc.net
Also when did this happen as our BOT didnt kick anyone tonight? :-?
yes Fly^, I spoke with you for quite some time in private when it happened, you obviously have a bad memory. I am also well aware your BOT checks for pirated key's, I can guess where that list came from (me). I also know the reasons for me being kicked, its because of one of the ops in there has a dislikeing to me, either way I wont be going back, since your BOT obviously has a keyfile in its list thats wrong, being mine.

That would be good if it actually worked.

To Ryu
>yes Fly^, I spoke with you for quite some time in private when it happened, you obviously have a bad >memory.
No. It was probably too much beer! That and chatting to other visitors at the same time. Our BOT does like to kill a few people for the Amirc key-file thing though and they all /msg me with “Your gonna die” etc…
Yours would be one of many messages I received. If you can send me the log I’ll look into it. If not what was your nick at the time as I have checked through our logs and cant find Ryu*.
I will talk to the BOT master about your query though.

One thing I will say though is that #AmigaOne are not “the enemy”. Any issues between you and Ops on our channel should be emailed to me directly. You know it’s bad taste to do your dirty laundry in public don’t you. It makes both sides look bad.
One thing that is puzzling me though… If the list is yours as you say. Why include your own keyfile as a trigger? Just curious.
it is only a simple text file. I am guessing the Op in question has added my keyfile to the list... you know with a text editor....., anyway check your email, the log of our conversation is there, I log all I do on IRC for such reasons, I have over 100MB of logs from my 3 years of IRC.

Now I remember you.
Leave this with me. I'll get back to you about it.
As for anyone else who has issues with either myself, BOTs or a fellow #amigaone OP (past or present) can you please email me direct with your concerns instead of using Amiga.org as a wash board.
Cheers ;-)

No urgency I see.

The keyfile checking isn't much defence against pirated keyfiles. CTCP cloaking/faking is easy.

I am looking on having this "feature" of the BOT removed as it seems to be more trouble than its worth atm.

I hate using Irc.
It's like being back at home with my step dad.
Always afraid you're going to do something wrong causing you to get kicked.
People's rude also.
Irc surely is not for me. :-(
oh i dont know, most IRC channels are okay, you just have to follow simple rules, like you do in every day life, you wouldnt walk up to a strange and start hurling abuse at someone so you wouldnt do that on IRC :-). However there is an exception to every rule. there are really strange channels and some ops can be very power hungry and like to rule as if they were king or sommat, I try not to do that :-) only things I really clamp down on is piracy of amiga software, excessive flooding and excessive swearing.

Yeah I know the feeling.
That’s one of the ways we intend to change IRC for people.
But there are exceptions where some people think it’s funny to come onto an IRC channel and shout their mouth off about one reason or another and generally making an arse of themselves. IMHO These people would probably be the same people that argue in public places (like the middle of a busy street) or run rival IRC channels! But most are just children who don’t know any better.
Ever saw anyone come into your local pub and start calling people in there silly names for no reason! That’s unfortunately the nature of some who enter IRC channels. That’s why people tend to get kicked, for disturbing the peace being annoying and nothing else. Try that in a pub and you would swiftly be introduced to a bar stool or a very large bouncer!
On the whole IRC is a fun place to be if you like to chat. Like life itself it’s only a small minority who make it worse for everyone else.
