Unfortunately I cannot - I have to look after the family pooch, as my parents will be in France. I usually pop over to Netherlands this time of year and stop off in Belgium on the way (I take the Eurostar to Brussels), just when its at its rainiest!

Hmm, how often are these events anyway?

@ Ryu-

So you'd think more people would have signed this thread. Hummm... 228 views & only 10 replies? Maybe if it was "Sign here for a date with Jeri Ellsworth" ??? :-P :-o

Ryu
09-25-2003, 10:46 AM

I respect your enthusiasm, but maybe you should also remind people to which they should be "going to" :-)

Ryu

The BENELUX AMIGA SHOW is what everyone should be attending... www.beneluxamigashow.com. I have little to no interest in the pegasos, it is not something I concider a part of my computing future, and if anyone tries to shove it down my throat during the weekend I will be telling them likewise. No offence, each to there own and all that but its not for me. Oh yes and to make this post all okay I should add a smiley should I so here it is :-)

Kees
09-26-2003, 06:31 AM
I'll try to shove you a magazine down your troat :-)

And a beer perhaps ? .. :-)

>The BENELUX AMIGA SHOW is what everyone
>should be attending...

As unlike last year the Benelux Amiga Show and
Benelux Pegasos Show will be in the same location
at the same time (therefore "one big show")
everyone will meet the others anyway no matter
who attends "which show" :-)

Ryu
09-27-2003, 11:03 AM
dont be pedantic ;-)

and oh yes.. any more takes for going to the show? I really would like it if someone else was also going from Hull, dont really want to be spending a night onboard the ferry on me own... i'll get bored stupid :-)

Hi Kees,

A little bit of advise: I wouldn't wear a shirt with the logo in your avatar to Rotterdam if I were you :-D

Anyway. I'll be there, and I would love to get my hands on the Amiga.org magazine. I might even subscribe if I like it :-P

I wish I could. :-x It will be the most interesting show for a long time!

Has there been said anything about live coverage from the show? IRC for sure, but how about audio stream, video stream, web cam?

Anyway, remember that those of you who DO go there have a responsibility towards us other to report everything the very moment it happens! ;-) :-D

Ryu

Well im all booked ready to go :-) Got my bed in the hostel booked and my ferry place booked, roll on friday.

BTW anyone been to the stayokay hostel in Rotterdam? Whats it like? I've never stayed in a hostel before....

odin
09-30-2003, 11:47 AM
Ryu: you sleeping in a dorm? TAKE EARPLUGS WITH YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They saved me _many_ times when sleeping in hostels. Keeps out the snoring/wheezing/oozing sounds of other people sleeping. Oh and also handy for those noisy garbagetrucks outside :-).

I remember this one night in Melbourne when I didn't have earplugs and 2 ppl were screwing in a very noisy bunkbed 3 meters away from my bed. I came very close to murdering people that night.....

Cyberus
09-30-2003, 12:39 PM
oozing sounds? :-? is that a result of the people screwing?

just smoke loads of weed / drink loads of alcohol - then you'll have no trouble sleeping! ;-) :-P 8-)

Hi Ryu,

never been to a hostel in my life, but looking at the location it seems you're just a little outside of the city centre.
It is quite a walk to the event-place, so you're best off using public transport to central station. The building where the event is held is right next to central station (If you're standing in front of the central station, with your back to its exit, the party-place is on your right hand in the old looking building). It's actually the same building I work in.

Just noticed the movie "Freddy vs. Jason" is showing on saturday. Anyone want to go and see it on saturday-evening? I heard it's very bad... still want to see it though :-)
In the Netherlands movies are usually in English and have Dutch subtitles, so anyone should be able to understand them I think.
Oh and here (http://www.vvv.rotterdam.nl/uk/) you can find some other info on things you can do in Rotterdam while you're there :-P

You'd be surprised by the sounds some people make at night ;-).

There's only this detail of Ryu wanting to go to the BAS which starts at 10:00 :-).

@Ohno

Thanks for the help dude, all help is appreciated..

I'll be arriving in rotterdam on Saturday morning, luckily my bus drops me off right outside the central station so I should be able to see the building. I hope I can put my baggage somewhere during the show... dont fancy carrying around a big bag of clothes around aswell as my electrical goodies, I'll have to email the organisers... Or could I goto the hostel... book in and perhaps put my gear in a locker or something.... someone with hostel experience please fill me in here :-)

@Oli_hd

hehe cool. When you said you'll be returning on the monday ferry did you mean youll get back monday morning or your on the monday night ferry. If its monday morning your on the same ferry as me both ways. As we discussed on the IRC channel meeting up would be cool, and you have my mobile number so feel free to get in touch.

To anyone else, if your going and want to meet up let me know, Im quite happy to give out my mobile number to those going...

I think there are lockers in the central station as well. Been a while since I've actually been in there though. You can also PM me. My car will be down in the parking garage below the building. You can always put your belongings in the trunk. I can also drop you off at your hostel after the show if you like.

Onno

Errr... The show is held at a restaurant which is about a 10 minute walk from where I live. Talk about trusting the cat to keep the cream! But I already agreed to spend the weekend out of town with my GF... Choices, choices, choices... :-(

I am afraid I can't go. You see, our son Hermen (see www.solcon.nl/daan) is only ten days old now, and my priorities are mainly pointed towards him, these days.

But I do wish you all a very good show. Maybe the visitors from UK can paint the ferry red-white checkered. A true Boing-ferry!

Man, I wish I could be there. But being with my son is truly a good alternative :-D

Just joking.. (http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=+purple+saturn+day)

I just meant saturday.

Nevertheless, if all are being there on saturday, I won't be there on sunday (or vise-versa).
So see this as a micropoll asking people which day they will be there..

I sure wish I had a way to get over to it! I would love to see a good Amiga show. Its gong to be so nice when OS4 is out and ready to use on the CSPPC and the A1 systems!! Let us all know what you guys/gals see!!

borchen
10-05-2003, 03:09 AM
Well....it appears the be NO sunday for me after all... :-(

For several reasons:
- no spectacular new developments on OS4 (still slow in the graphics-department)
- entry-fee of 7 EURO (not mentioned on the show-website) :-?

- last but not least: the WEATHER is actually quite nice, so I'm off doing other stuff...

maybe I'll check out OS4 later on when it's (almost) finished and running on one of those mini-itx boards... 8-)

Oh...BTW...I'm not really interested in MorphOS, even though it appears to have an 'Amiga' feel to it...
(the Pegasos-boards are nice though)
I have said this before and will again: the MorphOS and OS4 camps should join forces and share the little resources they have, otherwise both will not succeed...
