Joke: The following address are available:-)

www.saddamhussein.co.us
www.alqaeda.or.us
www.osamabinladen.co.us

I wonder if DOT US will be censored in China, Iraq, Iran, North Korea? :-)

Haven't these been available for ages?

Does this mean that US specific sites no longer need monopoli(s|z)e .com?

Yes, the .us domain has been available for years, but only for geographical addresses. Like ogdensburg.ny.us or stlawrence.co.ny.us
Now it's been made available as a regular domaian, like .com, .org, .net, etc. So, now we'll see mtv.us, ibm.us, dumbassname.us.
Amiga.us?

>AMIGA.US

AMIGA Inc HQ is located behind the Snoqualmie waterfall in WA (West Australia), therefore the address should be: :-)

http://www.amiga.com.au

Erm, Were you trying to be funny? Amiga, Inc. is in Snoqualmie, WA USA. Yes, next to the falls, but alittle too close to Microsoft for me.

Patriotic? Some yanks will do anything to sell old rope for new money to other yanks.

I think we are seeing less patriotism and more jingoism in the US these days.

Of course it is really patriotic for the vast majority of the rest of the world to give a t*ss about this.

Their website states:

"Snoqualmie, WA USA"

So yes, they are getting the hang of geography.
