Hi all,

I've been waiting on Amigakit to source a 110v American PSU for the Minimig for 2 months and they don't seem to be having any luck. I've waiting to place an order, but I don't want to have a board delivered with no way to power it up. I've checked Radio Shack and eBay for a 5v DC 2.1mm connector PSU with no luck.

Could someone in the USA with a 110v DC supply please let me know where they purchased their PSU so I can place my order. An online source would be good as I'm outside of the country at the moment so I can't wander around the local shops.

Cheers.

Could someone get further technical information from the people who make it? I think you need to know the wattage and amperage and just not the 110V part. Voltage can be thought of as the size of the garden hose but wattage could be likened to the water pressure. There is electricity and there is electrical "pressure" which is wattage.

This is what i use with my minimig:
Vanson SMP2500A, it is cheap and should be for sale worldwide.

Yeah, I have a 5 gallon bucket of various PSUs I've collected over the years, but I didn't want to try any old one in the hope that it would work just in case I damaged the board. I'd rather hear from someone with a "tried and tested" PSU. :-D

Thanks. Is yours a dual voltage 220/110v input PSU (I need a 110v input)?

I'll have a quick search and see if I can find a USA version of it for sale.

There are plenty variable voltage psu's sold everywhere, and which certainly can deliver enough current.

That's because those are local shops for local people! There's nothing for you there! ;-)

Input voltage - 110V (or 220v location depending).
Output Voltage - 5V
minimum Amperage - (Estimated) 1A. (just to be sure)
Output polarity - Center pin positive.

Wattage is just a calculation of output Voltage vs Amperage.

Is this the one?
http://www.batteryspace.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=1406

Dual voltage input, variable output (user selected) and a host of adapters. If this is what you're using then it looks perfect, and less than $17.

I have the DVDs in my collection. Classic series! :-D

It even got shown on TV in the USA by BBC America, but I'm not sure what teh average Ameriacn viewer thought of it as they prefer their comedy simple such as "Friends".

You mean that dial on the PSU doesn't set itself? :-o

I've blown up one A1200 mobo (and had my orginal A2000 PSU catch fire), so I'm trying to be careful with the Minimig. I guess I'll order them now and hopefully they'll show up at my house by next week.

yep thats the one, be sure to set the voltage to 5V. and the polarity right.

It's part of culture. I think most just plain do not get the humour. Dutch comedy is often a lot more subtle, I think it'd be hard for a foreigner to understand it at all.

Just set it to 5 volt and nothing can happen. :-)

Bugger! They're sold out of them. :-(

I'm back to scanning the internet again...

OK, I found something similar at "Circuit {bleep}ty" (Nexxtech Universal AC Adapter NXX NAC500MA) and ordered it. Off to Amigakit now...

Darrin

Double bugger! Amigakit are on vacation until the 14th and are not processing orders. :-(

Now instead of a Minimig with no PSU, I'll have a PSU and no Minimig when I get home. :-D

Bad luck. I just had a look on the Vesalia (http://www.vesalia.de/e_minimig.htm) site and they are out of stock until 22nd April

:-(

If it's any consolation it's probably better to have the PSU kicking about than the Minimig without a PSU - then you'ld be tempted to try all sorts of leads!

Have you thought about cases yet?

Have you tried Circuit City?

Nexxtech Universal AC Adapter • AC to DC adapter (http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Nexxtech-Universal-AC-Adapter-NAC500MA/sem/rpsm/context/99608882/oid/179337/catOid/-12898/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do)

Amigakit claim to have some still in stock, so I'll keep my fingers crossed that I get one soon.

LOL. I agree. I could just see myself going through that 5 gallon bucket and thinking "Hmmm, 7.5 volts... close enough!" :-)

Not really. Wizzard had some nice clear plastic ones that have now sold out. I'm wondering if I can find a deep PS2 keybaord that might allow the Minimig to be installed internally (or under the "legs" and then the PS2 connecter can be looped back to the mobo. I have a bunch of spare keybaords in the house, so I'll open up a few of them with a screwdriver when I get home.

That's the one I ordered. :-)

Cheers. When I get the PSU and board together then I'll verify whether it works or not and post here.

@Darrin:

I bought my Minimig from Amigakit and I can say they provide a good service. They do seem to update their stock status on their site regularly too so I imagine there's still some left. ACube are supposed to be doing another run this month anyway so you shouldn't have too much difficulty.

Wizard66 has some cases on eBay now, just did a quick search (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Amiga-MiniMig-Case-Housing_W0QQitemZ250232101111QQihZ015QQcategoryZ35 42QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)

If you go for the keyboard idea let us know how you get on, sounds a cool idea!

Cheers for that link. I'll think I'll check out my keyboards first as (with the current exchange rate) that could be a waste of cash if I don't end up keeping it in Wizzard's case.

Looking at the mobo, it shouldn't be too hard to install. I'll cut holes for the Video, serial, power and joystick ports to be accessible. The location of the PS2 ports will be a bit of a pain, but as the keyboard wire will just loop inside the case, all I'll need to do is just leave a mouse pugged in to the other one. Some cheap buttons and switches will be easy to run and mount on the outside of the case with just a quick trip to Radio Shack and some bits of wire.

The problem is time. I have less than 3 weeks off, my kids are visiting for 9 days, I have to work in Houston for a couple of days and I've also picked up some stuff for my A2000 and C128. I'm going to be busy! :-)

I've seen nothing published, but I'm willing to take a stab at 100. Perhap the clue will be in the serial number on my board when it arrives.

I've seen others in this forum throwing around figures of 100/200 but I'd love to see some official figures.
