Hi,
I'm thinking of getting a new 1200 mobo and putting it in a case...
Not sure of what bits and pieces I need and what benefits I can expect ( at the moment I just want to do it!)
All comments and advice appreciated
cheers

There are no benefits unless you want to expand the ass out of it.

Benefits you can expect all depends on what you want to use your amiga for .. I would say if you dont have a scsi controller and want to go ide it is the best way to add cdroms, harddisks, zips etc. Also you have the possiblity to add pci\zorro bussboard cards for graphics, soundcards etc. I have a great amiga 1200 tower rock stable and great to play with if i want to do workbench work .. But for all that old stuff my original 1200 is best with external scsi box and native scandoubbled display...

I guess that's what I mean, if you were doing it , how would you expand it?

I went down this route years ago. Its a lot of pain, I wouldn't do it again. In the end i bought an A4000, expansion was so much easier. You will be ultimately limited by the AGA chipset, but getting a graphics card to work is one major expensive hack. Really if you have a scsi card, an '030 accelerator with about 8-16 meg ram and a cdrom then thats where I'd leave it. This will give you good speed, good compatibilty, especially if you run software made to run on AGA eg AGA games, graphics software like dpaint, brilliance, Image Fx in classic mode, Scala, wordworth etc.
