View Full Version : How best do I sell Amiga 2000 and stuff?

Like Xamiche in the other thread I've been looking for the best way to sell my old Amiga 2000, monitor, associated mags and software before I move house.
Not used in 10 years or so but turned on the ole 2000 to check it still works before even writing this - yep, oK.
I'm a newbie to Ebay and as I see it if you are selling a large number of items your costs can add up, even if you don't sell. The auction is only 7 days, so you rely on Amiga enthusiasts checking regularly otherwise your items end up with few or no bids and you're out of pocket. Bit of a lucky dip.
Is there a current user group in Sydney or somewhere else where you can list items for sale or ask for offers?
I've quickly browsed Amibay but it mainly seems to be European posts.
Are there alternatives I've overlooked?

I find eBay to be a pretty reliable selling place. You'll find that most Amiga collectors search the eBay pages daily. Well I know I did. I've never had any trouble selling Amiga equipment on eBay before.
Just by posting here you also may find a buyer. There are many collectors here who may be interesting in your computer, though I'd dare say eBay would be your best bet. A2000s are fairly common and I'm sure that most people here who want one, probably already have one. But you never know.

You can help to change that. :-D
Free listings, no time-limits, and you name your price/terms. You can't lose anything by trying.
I also second Xamiche - listing here at A.org will reach a wide audience of enthusiasts.

Why not set up a more user friendly marketplace here? It will help keep the prices fair and ensure that they go to good homes. The more we bid on the ebay items, the more pricier the machine gets.

In fairness, the seller is always looking to get the most money he can for his hardware/software while (after reading some of the anti-eBay comments around) I get the feeling that certain people here are after a "free meal".

Agreed. I guess the rarity of the equipment is what makes it so special.

Yeah, I keep scanning eBay for a nice Zorro network card. I'm probably just going to have to buy a "new" one from Amigakit or Software Hut.

Hi ,
I agree with everything said so far , I'd only add that everything is worth what someone is willing to pay!
Having said that, I'm in Sydney too and interested !

Hands down you'll get the best price for it on Ebay, all the collectors hang out there.

Hi all,
the A2000 is bog standard, monitor 1084S.
I was anticipating $100 upwards on the hardware. If it's not worth that I'd rather hand the whole lot to some youth group or worthwhile recipient.....and I suppose that's where I came in.
I'll have to collate the mags and software, but that won't be 'til mid next week. Then you might advise me if it's worth anything.
cheers
Dennis

I think you'd easily get $100 for a stock Amiga 2000 & 1084s on eBay. Closer to $200 by my reckoning. I sold a stock A2000 on eBay about 3 years ago and got $150 for it.
