Hi, just got myself a CDTV, and I'm in the market for some hardware for it.

First off, a CDTV keyboard with black keys. DK, UK or any other keyboard layout wanted, but in that order (meaning I want the keyboard with DK layout the most). Doesn't need to be in working order, as long as all keys are present.

Second off, a CDTV SCSI controller for the expansion port, so I can get a harddrive installed.

Third off, a CDTV ram expansion, preferably 8 MB (yes, I know ELBOX has them).

If you have anything else interesting, let me know (black caddy, kickstart switcher, accelerator, brikette, etc).

I want a CDTV keyboard too. I swapped for one (and a mouse) with Dooguk in January. He got my stuff and he has still to send it :-(

They do SCSI expansions!? :-o I would also want one of them but I wouldn't expect the RAM upgrade to be cheap.

They do SCSI expansions!
Yup, Commodore did a very nice one with a cool CDTV External harddrive (Which if anyone has one for £20 I would be interested in... but they are worth about £100 so im not expecting many takers on that)
WAW made an SCSI card, so did lots of people.
See my (Old, out of date) CDTV website here (http://www.cdtv.org.uk) for more info. (Upgrading/cdtv/SCSI cards)

There is a German bloke who makes the SCSI card new (the WAW design card, which is a good card) who is rather sad as he paid a lot for the design yet has only sold 30 cards in the past few years. (2 years I think)
Im looking for the link now.

------edit------
Ok, this is the guy>> http://www.cnctechniker.de/amiga.html
€70 for the card though, but its brand new and uses the revision 8 version of the chip, runs it faster etc etc.

So does this sad german have a english page with info or a webshop. Or can I buy this somewhere else? Vesalia ? AmigaKit ?

Sorry if I come off as pretty lazy here but thats how you need to treat customers. they are always right :)

You won't sell your worlds sweetest icecream on the beach even, if you dont have stand to sell it from if you catch what Im getting at.

A crap google translation, hand edited by me (Oli_hd):

I have had some SCSI cards for the CDTV made.
The hardware is based on the CDTV2SCSI from WAW and its software.
Thank you to Wilfried Weber.
However, It is now difficult to get the SCSI chips, hence the high price of the hardware is must correct ..
Therefore, I offer the card for the cost of 70 euros (plus shipping). Orders should be sent by mail.

What you get for 70 Euros?:

The sale includes the module, 1 manual, with some tips on the software and disk installation, software on disk, 1 internal 50-pin cable and a protective film for where the internal hard drive is mounted (not required) 1 harddisk holder for 3.5 "and 2.5" drives with distance bolts.

Additionally, actually only a Y-cable for the power supply is required and the hard disk itself naturally with 2 screws.

For all of the Amiga News Forum: It is a WD33C93A PL-08 SCSI chip!!

I have sold out of the kickstar switcher.

Today I got the long awaited CDTV keyboard from DoogUK.

The black keys had already been swapped out for white ones!!

Bugger! It's useless to me, all I wanted it for was the black keys and it didnt have any! :boohoo:

Trust me to get one without asking for a photo!

Anyone in the UK want it?

I once bought a NEW CDTV keyboard and it had white keys, so your keys probably weren't swapped :-)
I think that, depending on the layout, there may have been some problem of supply of black keys so C= used white keys instead.

This was the original keyboard and it came with white keys.

Ok. I had seen them before like that before.

Either way it was black keys that I was... and I accept full responsibility for not asking for a photo, explaining what I wanted it for etc.

Edit :-o Double d'oh! It appears I cant read either:

http://www.amiga.org/forums/showthread.php?t=33849

I don't remember it saying "white keys" but I must have been having a really bad day ;-)

What makes him sad? Because he is not running a company making these things, because it's a hobby and shares the things he makes with others?

Sorry if I come off as pretty lazy here but thats how you need to treat customers. they are always right :)

Sorry? Why is that? He is making these PRIVATLY, he has no obligations towards anyone. If you want one, you'll have to take the trouble translating it.

And yes, in contrary to what you are saying this guy is very good communicating, high quality finishing, fair prices and the devices he makes work perfectly.

Here is one used (http://www.amigis.nl/shop/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=52_76&products_id=460)

Second off, a CDTV SCSI controller for the expansion port, so I can get a harddrive installed.

Try Jochen (as mentioned before), he is making a new batch of controllers.

If you have anything else interesting, let me know (black caddy, kickstart switcher, accelerator, brikette, etc).

Amigis (http://www.amigis.nl/shop/catalog/index.php?cPath=29_45) still sells CDTV parts like mice, genlocks etc. Although not really cheap.

damn (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=230237294630) I was checking this but price went out of my justification range (40 euro)

@Tahoe

Thanks for the links. Are they reliable?

As for the price; I'm definately getting a SCSI controller from Jochen, and most likely the 8 MB ram card from Elbox, when I get hold of the keyboard, since I scored myself a suitable black 1084 monitor the other day. Might buy additional stuff later on.

Yes, they are. But it might be a bit more difficult to order from them from abroad, if it poses a problem let me know and I'll gladly order from you and pass it on.

I think it's probably a typo - maybe it should read 'said German' as in 'the German in question'.

Then again - maybe not?

What makes him sad? + a boatload of rants

Answer:

Thats simply not what I said. You misunderstood.
I tangented off on oli mentioning he was sad, further revealing info not publicly available on that site wich he later linked to. Given his interest and expertise in cdtv I tend to give him the benefit of the doubt, seems reasonable he would know if this was so.

that set up the basis of my reply. A guy was sad he couldnt sell scsi interfaces. thats simply how it looked.
I never questioned the quality of craftsmanship, pricing or communicationskills.

It was a simple question in that light where to buy his hardware and a hint what to do to become less "sad".

hope this clears things up

I bought a CDTV keyboard off ebay a few weeks ago - UK version with black keys. It cost me nearly £50 but it is in absolutely pristine condition and sold as NEW. :-D

Just have to wonder where it has been lying for the last 15+ years?

The guy selling them found them in a lockup of a former Amiga shop. He found a tonne of stuff.

The owner kept it all in the back when he switched to PC's and retired recently (or something to that nature).
