Hi there,

I got one of them Escom 1200's and it was working fine but then suddenly came up with the "No DOS Disk" error. I thought simple, just load 3.1 Install and go through the usuall disk procedure and bob's your uncle. It installed ok but as soon as it rebooted the error appeard again. The only thing I can think of is to format the drive compleately although I wouldn't think it woulds make a difference.

Has anyone here experianced the same issues?

About the only time I would experience that is when I would format a new drive fully, then try installing the OS... So if its a smiliar issue, and your hard drive in the Amiga is fairly new, then I would just do a quick format and give it an install.

Who knows, someone else here may have something better to do. :-)

Im confused. If it was giving a non dos error how did you manage to install wb back on it. Surely you need an emoty amiga dos disk partitian to do this??

It's telling you that it wants you to install OS3.9 :-D

@ foleyjo, precicely. I just hope it isn't a hard disk controller fault. :-(

I will try a full re-format as soon as I can.

@ Methuselas, I would but the damn CD is faulty. I can't return it as it took so long to get my CD drive running properly. :-x MY LUCK!

Is it just the One partitian that says non dos?? Maybe you should try repartitianing it

@Tokyo

Try a full format and make sure to make a proper boot partition. That way, if the boot drive pukes or if both do, you know whether or not it's a possible software issue or hardware.

Man, I wish I lived in my old hometown. I have about 30 notebook drives between 4GB-12GBs in storage. I'd send you a replacement, if I had access to them. :-?

@ Methuselas, That's aweful kind of you, I hope it isn't hardware as the machine still has it's warrenty sticker and it would be a big shame to pearce it.

Ok after a few hairy experiances, it now works! Thanks for the help guys.
I think one of the drivers was buggerd up or something corrupted but main thing is it's working now. :-)

Replace the hard drive as soon as you can.

This is one of the first symptoms of a dying winchester.
