Are there any A1200s out there which are still for sale that have NEVER been used? i.e. unopened, untouched, still pure?

All this talk about leaky capacitors got me thinking...

PS. I read somewhere that AmiKit sell "New" A1200s but can anyone confirm if they are bona fide new/unused/unopened (1200 Magic packs i`m thinkin here)

Please advise.
Thanks

From what I have heard is that even the "new" Amiga 1200s that have been untouched still can suffer from the leaky capacitors as they are still over 10 years old even though unused. But I could be wrong on this ...

No, you're not wrong at all. Electrolytic caps can dry or leak, even if unused for a very long time.

BTW: A guy in Brazil is selling NOS A600 on our "equivalent" to Ebay (mercado livre). He starts selling 11, now just 9 left (he is selling for R$300,00 ~ US$170.25 each + S&H). No boxes or manuals.

If someone want to see with own eyes, I will put a link here.

you are right. actually unused stuff is more prone to cap leakage than regularly used stuff in my experience. that's probably because caps regularly polarised are more resistant to leaking.

I agree with that; my A501 from 1988, which saw a LOT of use, still has its original capacitor; it won't hold even the slightest charge anymore, but it hasn't even hinted at leaking. Meanwhile, a mint A2000 I just picked up at WOC 2007, which looks like it has been untouched since it was made, is newer than the A501, yet had a nasty battery leak.

It should be noted also that a capacitor leak in an A500 won't damage the main system board, since it will be located in the expander (ie; A501) separate from the motherboard.

I concur with rkauer and countzero.

@DigitalQ:
you're talking about the battery, but the OP was talking about capacitors (also known as condensators in certain European countries), and more specifically electrolytics.

The NiCD batteries, btw, also exhibit the same symptoms: when used often, they are less likely to leak, while the opposite happens when stored. Ergo: use your Amigas! ;-)
