Good morning folks,

I hope you have all had a pleasant Christmas.

I am attempting to find more information about the 'KAWAI FunLab Music System' produced for Amigas around 1990.

I have of course Googled for various combinations, yet am only able to find eBay links, yet no solid information on the hardware specifications and what software was required to drive the hardware.

Here is a picture of the unit:

Any additional information would be most appreciated.

Kind regards,
James

It looks a bit like it might be a MIDI interface box.

meega,

Thank you for your prompt response.

Yes, I expect that it may be able to function as a standard MIDI interface, however I have also downloaded a software disc produced by Steinberg - it loads successfully in WinUAE, yet reports that the hardware interface cannot be found. This led me to suspect that it may be a little more specialised after all.

Cheers,
James

Hi, you stoked my interest too.

If you look at this (http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=de&u=http://www.bibra-online.de/comp-amiga.htm&sa=X&oi=translate&resnum=1&ct=result&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dfunlab%2Bsynthesizer%2Bamiga%2Bmidi%2 6hl%3Den%26safe%3Doff%26sa%3DG) translated German page, you get a little more info. (Look at the bottom of the "sound" section.)

It seems the funlab was a MIDI interface specifically for Kawai keyboards.

I also found some links to software for K1 patch editor and K4 editor also. Dunno if posting the links will break any rules, so I will refrain. I'm sure you can find them.

Seems it was popular in Germany, so maybe some of our German friends coudl help.

Good luck.
