View Full Version : Any Hivelytracker users out there? (OS 3.x, Paula)

I tried to get Hivelytracker 1.4 to work on my A1200 desktop yesterday with no success. It starts up fine, I can load mods, but when I press play, it simply freezes. I am using AHI V6 from Aminet with Paula. Any ideas? (Yes, I know there is a Hivelytracker forum, but I thought I'd ask here first...)

Now just wait Xeron to appear :) I use Hively only on OS4, I haven't tried the 68k version.

I've appeared, but I don't know what to say... I only use the OS4 version, too. Buzz is responsible for the os3.x and aros ports...

Do other AHI programs work? Does "Unit 0" make a noise when you do the test sound in AHI prefs?

Edit: BTW, if you DO ask on the hivelytracker forum, syphus should see it and he uses hively on a1200/paula/os3.x.

User "d0pefish" is a H.T. user (on A4000) he may be able to help you.

Does it work on your A1200T?

I don't know (yet) if other programs work. Regarding "Unit 0": What actually is this? It gave me no test sound when I tried, but should it do so? I have selected Paula as AHI device, test sound works fine with it, I tried several modes (e.g. 8 bit, 14 bit).

Edit: BTW, if you DO ask on the hivelytracker forum, syphus should see it and he uses hively on a1200/paula/os3.x.

Thanks for the hint, maybe I contact him directly.

@Colani1200

"Unit 0" is what hivelytracker uses to play sounds through AHI. If Unit 0 isn't working, hivelytracker won't work. When you go into AHI prefs, select unit 0 from the cycle gadget and click "Test Sound". If you get a sound, then AHI is correctly installed and at least configured well enough to get sound out of it, and so the problem is with hivelytracker.

If you don't get a sound, or you get an error, the problem is with your AHI installation.

BTW: 68030 is too slow to usefully use hivelytracker. A future version may include a 68k assembler optimised replayer which would help, but until then you really need an 060.

hmm... OK... maybe the binary should be named "ht-060" instead of "ht-020" ;-)

I should really get my 1200T working again. Or build an Aros box...

Probably :-)

Hively was written specifically for PPC/OS4, so its all written in C and not optimised for paula playback (unlike the original AHX).

I got the same problem as you when I first installed. Unit 0 was not configured. go to prefs/AHI and you'll figure it out.

yea, HT would not run at all on my A1200. I'm pretty sure it was my no FPU 030 though :-)

I'm going to give it another go now that I have an 060.
