After the OS4 release, I would think that a boot manager would be awesome to have in our amigas, YES, I know about the Early Startup Menu, but a real boot manager would be awesome! anyone thought about it? is it something easy to code? :-? :-? :-? even a plain text one would be of great use!

I remember someone coded a rotating glenz vector on the boot sector once, so a boot loader should definitely be plausible :-)
I'd do it if I only had the time.

I wonder if a module for kickflash/algor can be made...

I must admit, I thought more ppl would say that they find the lack of a bootloader bothersome... at these times I am sad my programming skills are zero LOL

it's a nice idea jollies... except most of us are fellas here???
anyways not to burst your bubbles i use a boot manager on pc that is probably way out out of the league of what you had in mind. it's called bootitng and boots as many windows os's or linux's and you can do all your partitioning and formating with this program. by default it shows itself every boot and you can pick configs like which disks you want to show or hide from the net or boot etc. it's a better step on from what i used to use hyperos... :-)

I don't find it bothersome, but as soon as I saw your thread I lept into action...

The good news: Clicking on the titles executes different startup-sequences :-)
The bad news: At the moment you would need OS3.9 and OS4 to be on a floppy disk for it to work :oops:

What, you can't run OS4 from a Floppy??? That's not the Amiga way, what a blasphemy! What happened to showing up the Worshippers of BillyG how we could run without a hard disk ;)

Has anyone tried this (http://aminet.net/package/util/boot/BootGrio) bootmanager yet?
@amigakit
Are you gonna charge for the bootmanager :)? Will it be software/hardware based?

OS4 can boot from CD, harddisk, USB, RAD: or BOOTRAD: or RESRAD: and of course from floppy too.
