Hi,
Is it possible to connect an external hard drive to an Amiga 500/6000/1200 via a connector of some sort?
Is it possible to connect an external CD Rom to an Amiga 500/6000/1200 via a connector of some sort? If connected to the 1200 will it read CD32 games?
Thanks in advance!

Hi mate, yes you can,
in Amiga 500 the hdd / cd-rom you use the trapdoor on your left, but without a mod you can turn on one of the devices alone.
in the Amiga 600/1200, you have an internal IDE connection, unbuffered, and with mods again you can connection both hdd an cd-roms, or its possible to make an other combinations.
do you have any Amiga's???

When I owned an A1200 with a SquirrelSCSI, it could hookup any external SCSI device that you had room on your desk for. Hard drives, CD drives, scanners, so forth. It uses the PCMCIA on the left side, so that takes care of the 1200 and 600. Yes, you can play CD32 games with it. You just needed an "emulator" for the 1200 which came with the SquirrelSCSI, but is also on Aminet.
Some of the HDs that fitted on the left side of the A500 also had 25pin SCSI passthroughs so that you could connect the above mentioned items . Check the BBOAH. link (www.amiga-hardware.com)

An A570 for the A500, or even an Aminet hack to add an IDE interface to her.
On mine 1200 I have an external IDE CD-RW, using a dual IDE cable bought from Vesalia.
OR buy a second-hand Dataflyer 1200 and hook a SCSI chain on the internal IDE. Up to 4 (!) more SCSI devices can be added this way.

Hi, the A1200 is probably the cheapest and best bet as it has internal IDE. You can use a laptop drive inside the case, or desktop drives in an external box. Future accelerator/memory expansion parts are also easiest to get hold of for this model, and it can be "degraded" to run most A500 games.
Oh, I have an A1200 in a tower case, with hard drive, CD, Zip and LS120 on the IDE bus via a four way adapter.
What is your plan ?
