View Full Version : Why is Amiga.org "avatar allergic" ??

I just found a nice picture for myself on the web and wanted to use it as my avatar.

The little tool in the profile editor says it has to be 100x100 pixels or less so I scaled it down to 99x85... a nice little JPEG file...

But everytime I try to upload it the website gives me the error message "no image uploaded"...

Any particular reason?

DUH! It doesn't take JPEG... it has to be a .gif... like I was supposed to know!!!

It sure doesn't filter out in the requester...

was the jpg less than 10K?

as you can see jpgs are accepted ;-)

oh well the current one its a transparent gif (experimenting a bit)

BTW, (as of this reply) I never met anyone who really looked like a computer chip...

Hummm... As I said above, I found a picture FOR myself and not OF myself... :-D

However, if you study my avatar carefully, you will notice that I am a close relative to the Motorola 68000 processor... as a matter of fact he is a cousin of mine... :lol:

I don't know why you might be having a problem except, as has already been pointed out, your image must fit the size limits and be under 10k.

<== 6,572 bytes of jpg avatar...

The JPG file was 21k in size...

The avatar upload (http://www.amiga.org/edituser.php?op=avatarform) page clearly states:-

Max Pixels 100 x 100
Max Image Size (Bytes) 10000

its clear that your avatar isn't much compressible, because it contains a lot of details (sharp lines). you will need to blur it so that jpg can make it small enough. maybe gif/png is better solution in your case
