Lha is the Amiga's zip. So the you have to unpack the archive with lha. Look for it on www.aminet.net

How good is lha compared to other compression formats anyway?

lha is much easyer to use then you think to uncompress the file first place it where you want it to be (I usualy make a drawer and place the .lha file in it) Make sure you have the lha uncompression tool on your system drive.
Dubble click on the .lha file you want uncompressed and a diologe box will open up. In the box at the beginning of the file name type "lha x (filename.lha)" where I have file name keep the exsisting file you are uncompressing do not place brackets. and hit enter. this will automaticly uncompress the file where you have the .lha.
Close the window and then reopen it you will then see the program and will be able to use it.

well, .lha was updated to the rather efficient .lzx, and microsoft liked .lzx so much that they asked if they could use .lzx for the compression of their .cab files for installation .msi's

so now the author of .lzx now works for them making x86 lzx de/compression routines for microsoft

as is my understanding. :-)
