Hi, I saw that this question had been asked before, but I thought I'd ask it anyway.

Blizzard 1230 IV with 68030@50mhz and 68882@40mhz, a possible combination?

In some erlier posts I saw that some had tried it, but no one was really 100% sure about the results (from what I saw anyway). So does anyone know for sure if this is a good idea? I can imagen heat might be a problem, but what I really want to know is, will it perform as good, or almost anyway, as a 68882@50mhz?

there is only one speed for both chips on bliz IV
(older ver, II, III can run asynchronously)
but 882 40MHz version will run on 50mhz too, dont worry :)

but some will hang !
So for a few more bucks, get a 50 Mhz 68882

You can run an 882 at a sperate speed to the CPU, but i was only able to get a 40Mhz rated one. runs fine at 50Mhz though ;-)

i wasn't aware that you couldn't run the cpu and fpu in async on the bliz4. but hey, i didn't look into it, as i was going to run it at 50Mhz anyway....

i remembered the 882 on my old A3630 was 33Mhz, and it ran at 40 just fine..
