Hey all, was wondering if we should do a poll to put down on paper what the level of interst is in creating a Flicker Fixer / Scan Doubler.
IT could be a scale of money amounts that people could vote on. Theri vote would represent the HIGHEST they'd be willing to pay for a SD/FF.
With that info (# of ppl. + $$$ willing to spend) companies might be more willing to make another batch or someone who is good with a soldering iron and a bit of business sense could make something happen.
Just a Thought.

I'd be keen for a better scandoubler. Specially if it does better colour than my existing ones.
I'd pay up to US150/Euro120/UKP80 for a decent quality internal or external scandoubler.
I wouldn't consider one of those dodgy composite video to vga type devices. Nowhere near the video quality I'm looking for. Gotta be real RGB conversion.
I think the market for scandoublers will increase soon, as the supply of 15khz monitors dries up...
Here's hopin..

100 Euro would be the limit.

Yeah, I think that 100 EURO would be a fair price, in case it gives the best possible video output. I'd even consider buying 2 or 3... I would prefer a small (half the length of an A520 at max) external one.

It would be great to see them back on the market again.. 100E / £80 would be ideal.. I just paid over £100 for a scanmagic.
We could petition the peeps at elbox.. They obviously already have designs for one, and are still producing amiga hardware..
They would probably have a minimum order level to break even on production.

If someone gets the idea to make a scandoubler, it would nice if for once a scandoubler that does not make aga look like ocs/ecs were made.

100€ would be fair price and if it could have some sort of cooling because they get pretty hot.
My external DCE SD/FF is almost suffering from a meltdown...have to drill some cooling holes in the outer case :-o

A poll would be a good idea, but I've just dropped off the list as I ended up buying an internal SD/FF for my A1200T from Eyetech... just waiting for it to arrive.

as long as there were enough made so that i could get a cheap second hand one somewhere down the line, it'd be cool
although new, i'd probably say about £80ish

@orange
Seen that one, and that guys other auctions. I'm pretty sure he doesn't sell much of his Amiga hardware...

My ideal scan doubler would have the following features:
* 24-bit analog to digital conversion for full AGA pallete reproduction
* Scan doubling of all low scan modes including super-hi res
* Flicker fixing of all interlaced modes
* External
* Optional: S-VHS or Component Video Out
With low scan multisync monitors near extinction , I'd galdly pay $200 for this piece of equipment.

I Also got a scandoubler from Eyetech. total $160-ish USD!!!
that's why I though of doing this poll, there has GOT to be a better market for such a needed Item and I was hoping a poll would do just that...

If anyone has information on an existing design, I may be able to put something together as a diy kit. I would consider manufacturing, but it's not a likely option for me. At least, I'm most unlikely to go to the extent of making any custom chips, though programming chips is quite possible. I've always wanted an SD/FF for my 1200 (specially since I got married, and my wife hates the extra monitor in our small place). I will (hopefully) soon graduate as an electronic engineer, so may take on the project when I finish. I don't know that I would bother designing the thing from scratch though, particularly as I don't have a fully featured research lab in my home.
