I have an Amiga 2000, and plenty of Midi files on disk 3.5. I'm also running both Mac & PC. I was wondering how I could transfer the Midi files so they can be read on either Mac or PC. The disk are formatted for Amiga so they can't be read by either Mac or PC machine, but I really would like to have the midi files. What can I do? :-o

Transfer the disks on your Amiga to a format which a pc can read, i.e. 720 KB dd floppies. Depending on the OS version on your Amiga, this is either built in (look for PC0:) or can be added by installing freely downloadable thirdparty software such as Messydos (worked great back when I used WB/KS 1.3).

Now you can simply put the disks in any pc with a 3.5" diskdrive and transfer the files to harddisk.

Or you can use a nullmodemcable between the serial port of your Amiga and the serial port of your pc, use a commpackage on both computers and transfer the files like that. Commpackages for both machines can be downloaded for free on the net. I find Term 4.4 for the Amiga to be very effective, but there are many more to be found.

I prefer the transfer through a nullmodemcable compared to running around with stacks of disks, but both work great...

There are more methods, some of which involve you buying a networkcard for your Amiga but this will cost you both more time and money.
