I purchased a used Commodore 1950 monitor a few months back. When I initially tested it, it worked find with a PC laptop running in VGA 31khz mode. Image was stable and colors were good.
This weekend I hooked it up to my A1200 using a new CBM VGA adapter. The image generated had two noticable problems:
(1) The image was slightly jittery
(2) The left side of the screen was compressed slightly relative to the right side.
I was unable to get a stable picture after playing with the controls. More distirbingly, I noticed a buring smell comming from the monitor after a couple of minutes. I retried with my PC in VGA mode and the image was still good.
Is there any hope to get the monitor working well in 15khz mode? Could I have a problem with my Amiga-to-VGA adapter? Should I toss the monitor or look into getting it fixed?
Thanks!
