Hi -

I just loaded OS3.9 and am having some problems installing other programs. The web site of the developer has it for free download but the link is broken. Can somebody perhaps e-mail me the file? Thank you !

ckillerh3@comcast.net

The OS3.9 link is below but the BoingBag1 is not there.

Hi -
According to the web site you need BoingBag1 before you can load/use BiongBag2. I grabbed #2 from the site but can't use it since I do not have #1 yet.

@ckillerh3:

Download it here (http://web.archive.org/web/20040404132613/http://www.amiga.com/3.9/download/BoingBag39-1.lha). Dont forget to extract it with the original LhA (http://de.aminet.net/pub/aminet/util/arc/LhA_e138.run) as Unarc needs BoingBag 1 installed before it can extract BoingBag 1 correctly.

Thanks folks. I have it. I appreciate the help, and the tip to use original LHA to unpack the file. I'm sure I'll be up and running in a jiffy.

Make sure you make a bootable backup before installing BB2 as a lot of ppl could not boot their system after installation. BB1 should be no problem.

Most peoples problems is because of the updated scsi.device. If you experience any problems, then disable this and you should be fine.

The update is disabled by editing the setpatch line, like this:

SetPatch SKIPROMUPDATES "scsi.device" QUIET

I had to extract the Insstaller command, from BB2.lha before I could install BB1 properly!

Installer programs on Aminet (http://ftp.uni-bremen.de/aminetbin/find?installer+util), would that help :-?

Not for me it didn't, even the installer inside the BB1.lha wasn't good enough!?!?! The one in BB2.lha worked fine with no problems. InstallerNG may work though, but I never tried it.

/me thinks that all the OS 3.5/3.9 boing bags and updates (remember the official EuroUpdate archive?) should be made available from at least one homepage before they disappear from the web.

The best place for them would be aminet.net...

It would also be good if the updates for CGX3 and 4 required to use BB1 and 2 for OS3.9 were uploaded to aminet as the CGX homepage has been dead for some time.

I believe that the BBs have some sort of policy if they haven't been uploaded on Aminet when they have been released.

I guessed that, but as they're only updates and Aminet is an official place online if someone could be arsed (i.e. A.Inc) they could have it freely distributable on Aminet, and only Aminet. But when do they ever care ;-)

Have tried 4 times to download BB1 but with no luck: after around 1MB downloaded, the transfer stops unexplicably: red light on Ibrowse download manager window. So, it's not the network that goes down! :-/

Why is that?

A.org member Castellen was nice enough to host both boing bags on his homepage (http://amiga.serveftp.net).

Hmm.. Perhaps i'm wrong, but these are not the BoingBags that i have d/l from the amiga.com website a few years ago. Where are the updated classes, devs, libs, etc that the BBs contained? Sorry if i'm mistaken, it's being a while from the last time i've checked those 2 archives.

@AmigaMance

Aren't you thinking of the boing bags to OS3.5? In those the files were accessable through Directory Opus, in boing bag 1 and 2 for OS3.9 they were placed in an arced file, that needed to be unarced using the installer. At least BoingBag 2, can't remember for BoingBag 1....

Just uploadeding all the boing bags, download speed from my site is about ten times faster than the prevous link on a good day.

Any other files people want mirrored??????
