I don't know if this is a good forum to be asking digital camera questions, so if not, any suggestions for a better forum to ask in would be appreciated.

I'm thinking of getting a digital camera, most likely in the sub-£100 range, though for something significantly better I'd probably go over the £100 mark. I currently have a Kodak DC3400, and I would like to be able to use the 256MB compactflash stick I bought for that in the new camera if possible.

My father bought a Minolta Dimage Z1 last year, 3 megapixel camera, 10x optical zoom. Beautiful camera. It just has a bit of a plasticy feeling to it. Dunno how much it was though (prolly not very cheap) nor what kind of memory cards it swallows.

Look at the low-end HP or Epson-cameras...

The Canon Powershot A75 is a cracking camera, currently up for £129.97 at Ebuyer (http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?action=c2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=60417&_LOC=UK). AFAIK some people don't like ebuyer (no experience here myself) but you can get it at other places e.g. £144.95 at Cameras2U (http://www.cameras2u.com/products/details.cfm?PRODUCT=9350A007AA) (recommended) or £141.70 at Amazon (http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0001JZRHQ/026-0128636-7630053) (well known). A bit over the £100 but 3x optical zoom, shooting modes from full auto right through to full manual including manual focus... etc. etc. and takes CompactFlash cards.
