Hi,

Listening to the news today, I heard that the Canadian gov't said that its loudmouths should tone it down so that they can re-establish better relations with the United States, they claimed that this would be better for business relations, agriculture relations, and gov't relations. They also want to get rid of the ban on their beef with the USA since this is causing a gross money loss which is hurting their countries income. They would also like the security of the United States Military since their own military only consists of about 10,000 personnel (Ahem, Ahem, Ahem). So what does this all mean, loudmouthed canadians should quiet down their tone about the U.S. since this brings bad relations, (as if the U.S. really cares), which causes lost income for Canada.

Hey Glaucus, the United States is like a woman, can't live with them but can't live without them, read it and weep. By the way this was broadcast over the canadian news, the BBC and CNN and Fox news.

Well, I'm hoping that most Canadians don't give in to the pressure. Albertans, who've always been considered conservative and probably love G. Bush anyway are the ones who raise cattle. Here in Winnipeg we grow wheat, and most people around here think Bush is an idiot and going into Iraq was a big mistake (even my most conservative ex-military buddies think this way).

Personally, I think Paul Martin is making huge mistakes with his current dealings. The fact that he's even contemplating supporting Bush's anti-ICBM system is appalling, but last I heard he may even send Canadians to Iraq.

If Martin decides to take Canada down the same road Bush and Blair have taken their respective countries, then Canada will deserve the same fait. I hope Canada doesn't need to take the same hard lessons America and Britain are taking now, but if it comes to that, then so be it.

Maybe the Canadians should stop selling their oil to the Americans and take their business to the French and Russians, and deal in euros. Then we'd see who's the beatch in the America-Canada relationship, eh?

Hi,

@Glaucus,

To tell you the truth, really don't want to bring Canada into this mess. This mess in Iraq is really going to be one hello of a fight. alquaida has learned a lot from the Viet Nam war, have no uniform, fight from every angle you can, get the people to commit suicide killings and then cower back in the shadows. Yep one hello of a mess, we will probably eventually win, but the cost is going to be high. We can't pull out because then what will the world think of us? I just pray that our military leaders have some sort of plan on how to handle this, and that our soldiers have the patience and persistance to fight this thing out. Do we need help, you betcha, but we need help from the larger more wealthy nations.
