I'd just like to wish Eid Mubarak to the muslim members of this site 8-) Inshallah, you will all have a good one.
As is usual, here in Manchester some communities are celebrating it on Saturday and others Sunday, so I'm posting this "in the middle" of the two ;-)

I didn't realise Eid Mubarak was a specific holiday, I thought it was a greeting used on any current holiday.

@T_Bone
Actually, your are correct in that the phrase "Eid Mubarak" is the greeting, but Eid itself is also (part of the name of) the holiday, of which there are 2 in the year. The present one, Eid-ul-Fitr follows Ramadhan, the other, Eid-ul-Adhr follows Hajj.

@Karlos
I knew if there was gonna be an Eid Mubarak thread, you'd be the creator :-)
It's been a great day today, I've been able to spend some time with my family which has been difficult to do recently with work commitments and so on. It also struck me that its the last eid I will celebrate in a non parental role, my wife gives birth to our first child in January :-D

Mubarak is the name of the President of Egypt, as I recall. What does 'Mubarak' mean in Arabic?

As far as I know the word is just an expression of best wishes.
As a persons' name I am not sure :-?
