Although in world War II, Japanese soldiers murdered 35 million chinese very few were brought to justice. A man called Rabbi Marvin Tokayer met the Japanese emperor and went to convert him to Judaism. Tokayer also married my Japanese mother to a jewish man. I am theit son, a contradiction. When I try to talk about the Japanese killings, my parents try to silence me. They have no compassion for the Chinese, and think they are evil. They also protest the {bleep} Tokayer. Why did God let me born? Is he trying to plan tor the armageddon? Why didn't he punish Tokayer, the Japanese, and my parents? Is God such an uncaring idiot? :pissed:

You must realise that it's not god that bends, it's the rest of the world.

/me continues to do his unpronouncable ramblings and worship the outer gods

--edit--

Maybe I'll just go to bed instead ;-)

No joke, certainly nothing to joke about but it's true. Just about the exact moment pimple faced kids working in record stores were putting these CDs on the shelf that morning, the attacks happened.

Greetings,

When my Aunt was 5, she was shot by a Jap soldier. Luckly the bullet scared her face. :-( Japs has so many Gods I belive. Yet they acted like barbarians during the war.

The Atom bomb put a dent in all that. :-(

Regards,

I have an uncle who was a Japanese POW during the war, he was captured in Singapore and ended up in various camps around the far east.

He has some hair-raising stories of brutality and cruelty perpetrated by Japanese soldiers during the conflict, but it is important to try to understand the reasons why before judgeing them as barbarians.

The Japanese invasion of Manchuria had resulted in worldwide sanctions thus depriving Japan of oil and raw materials. Japan was forced to seek alternative sources of materials to fuel it's imperial ambitions. Japanese society drilled obedience and honour into citizens and the notion of surrender was treated with utmost disdain, as it was seen as shameful and dishonorable. Therefore captured enemies were only worthy of contempt.

The general conduct of Japanese occupying forces though was nothing short of horrific. Even Nazi officials visiting China during the late 30's / early 40's were said to be appalled at the treatment of the conquered peoples.

However, I strongly believe that Japan owes a huge debt to individuals and families and that they should compensate victims of the war. Japanese society remains largely ignorant about past indiscretions (unlike in Germany where all schoolchildren must visit a concentration camp during their education).

In the end, we're all offspring of rapers, murderers, torturers and so.

Also, just after ww2, the Dutch government sent troops to Indonesia, to quell the nationalist uprising there.
And the Dutch military there had as little mercy towards those Indonesian ppl as the German towards the Dutch.

It must be a military thing (and the glorifying of it).

If I'm converted to one thing, it's pacifism.

Wise words Speel and I'm in full agreement with you there.

My own mother country is responsible for using chemical weapons on Iraqi Kurds (during the 1920s) and invented the Concentration Camp.

We all have blood on our hands, and it's the responsibility of each generation to try to come to terms with the past and leave old national rivalries there, I am sickened when I see our tabloid press launching into outright racism every time we play football with Germany or a Frenchman is in the news.

Yous hear even less about how the japenese were treated in america during the war. Needless to say American concentration camps weren't much nicer than German ones.

Edit - I guess my point is the same as Speels. Everyones ancestors were arseholes at one point.

You are comparing internmen camps in the USA to concentration camps in Germany? One side held people in livable conditions against their will, while the other forced slave labor and horribly butchered millions??!?

You need help.
